OUR FOUNDER
DAVID ALEXANDER, RADIO AND FILM GEEK
David always dreamed of being the next Dick Clark and use to create countdown shows in his bathroom using two boom boxes and a tape recorder. He started his official broadcasting journey in 1984 at a small radio country radio station, WGML in Hinesville Georgia at the young age of sixteen.
David went on to host radio shows on WAEV-FM in Savannah and WZGC in Atlanta (with many stops in between).
His love for music runs deep and David enjoys all types of music, but has a special love for the Singer-Songwriter genre and has spent thousands of hours listening to live music at iconic venues like Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, Georgia and Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.
David left radio in the 1990’s to pursue his barbering and acting careers, but never lost his love for broadcasting.
Frustrated with the lack of virtually any singer-songwriter focused radio stations (and the commercialization and “dumbing down” of traditional radio), he set out to create Troubadour SM Radio. A station which honors the singer-songwriter, with less talk and minimal commercials. And, best of all, no algorithms choosing the music. And no corporate overlords in New York or Los Angeles telling us what is right for Atlanta radio! We actually live here!
Our music selections are hand curated by HUMANS who love music, so you’ll hear incredible artists (both mainstream on on the fringe) and even a few surprises from other genres that “fit” the vibe of Troubadour SM Radio.
In addition to his radio interests, David is also a working actor, with over 80 film and television credits to his name. He regularly works in Atlanta and spent several years in Los Angeles studying, auditioning, and working.
David's film and television credits include episodes of Dopesick on Hulu House of Cards and Ozark on Netflix, NCIS: New Orleans and CSI: Cyber on CBS, Genius on BET, The Righteous Gemstones on HBO Max, The Walking Dead on AMC, and was a recurring character on Kevin (Probably) Saves the World on ABC as well as BET's American Soul. David has had roles in the films Killing Reagan, Hillbilly Elegy, and The Banker, and was a lead in the films Lover in the Attic for Lifetime and A Biltmore Christmas from Hallmark.
